Transfer a domain to NodeMonster
Moving an existing domain to NodeMonster takes a few steps. Most transfers complete within 5-7 days, subject to registry and registrar rules.
Before you start
- The domain must be at least 60 days old and not within 60 days of a previous transfer.
- Unlock the domain at your current registrar.
- Disable WHOIS privacy temporarily if your current registrar blocks the transfer authorization email.
- Get the authorization code (also called EPP code or transfer secret) from your current registrar.
Start the transfer
- Sign in to the portal.
- Go to Domains, then start a transfer and enter the domain name.
- Paste the authorization code when prompted.
- Confirm the registrant contact details (used for WHOIS).
- Complete checkout. Most transfers include one year of renewal.
After you submit
- You may receive an approval email from your current registrar. Approving it speeds things up.
- The transfer completes automatically once the losing registrar releases the domain.
- DNS records do not move automatically. Review your DNS in the portal so nothing breaks during the switch.
